complete range of dental treatments are available from the team of dentists at 37 Dental Care. Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment necessary to maintain a healthy mouth. With the joint efforts of our team, the aim is to prevent the need for treatment, and so avoid the traditional pattern of fillings and extractions. Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and extracting teeth, as it was for many years. Nowadays, many people turn to dentistry as a way of improving their appearance, much as they would use cosmetic surgery or even a new hairstyle. Cosmetic treatments include veneers, crowns, bridges and tooth-coloured fillings.

From Our Website

Our dental website is designed to help you learn more about our own Truro based dentists, our dental practice and dentistry in general. On our website you will find a range of information about modern dental techniques, our dental practice opening times and a guide to fees charged by the dentists at the practice.

I first started working at Truro Dental Care in 1975 as a 17-year-old school leaver where I worked for about 5 years and then left dentistry to pursue a different career in office management. I have worked with Dr. Martin Edwards for over 20 years and I feel we make a pretty good team as we both have the same attitude to dentistry and to our patients. We are very fortunate in this practice; in that we have great patients who have remained with us for many years and who we now view as friends. Of course, it is always great to see new faces and that is my favourite part of my job - the interaction with the patients.

After being a housekeeper for 20 years back in West Sussex, I decided to have a change of career and started working in a dental practice. I qualified as a dental nurse in 2015 upon completing the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. I joined Truro Dental Care in 2017 where I am employed to work with Dr. Karen Mudd, Dr. Martin Edwards and our two hygienists. I love working in a varied role within the practice. I think we are a good team; friendly, happy and priding ourselves on doing our best for our patients.

Karen joined us in 2012 as our associate dentist and became a partner at the practice in 2019. Karen graduated from University if Bristol in 1993 and completed her vocational training in Swansea, South Wales. She then worked in London for several years, first in general practice and then in the Tower Hamlets PCT. A longing for sunshine then overcame her and so Karen worked in tropical North Queensland, Australia for seven years. Two children later Karen returned to the UK and settled in beautiful Cornwall.

I first qualified as a dental nurse in Canada in the early 1990s. I worked in Ottawa for 12 years during which time I met a lovely Cornishman and had two wonderful children. As Cornwall was calling to my husband we decided to emigrate and star a new life here. The team here are fantastic and I very much enjoy my work. I qualified in sedation nursing in 2019 and find this an interesting aspect of my job. I very much enjoy making patients feel at ease and find it rewarding when someone can finally relax with us.

My first experience of dentistry was through work experience at secondary school. I attended The Leats Community Clinic in Truro and enjoyed it so much, so when I left school in 1981, I joined Penryn Dental Practice as a trainee dental nurse. After two years I got married and followed my husband in the Army. We moved back to Cornwall permanently in 1994 and in 1995 I went back to dental nursing. I have worked in both NHS and private dental practices and have gained 27 years of experience. I joined Truro Dental Care in 2016 and I nurse for the hygienist, which is rewarding when you see patients improving their oral health.
