From Our Website
We are a busy multi-surgery practice and have been serving the area as a dental practice for more than three generations. In that time, there have been ongoing improvements to the quality of care and now SDC remains the major provider of modern, well equipped dentistry. We cater for families and individuals as well as those requiring cosmetic, implant and orthodontic services. SDC has been selected by the Lambeth Primary Trust to be one of the few practices to be approved as a training practice.
Statistics show that oral cancer is on the increase and that early detection dramatically improves the chances of recovery. At Streatham Dental Centre we offer oral cancer screening for all our patients. Oral cancer screening involves a short procedure at the dental practice that includes a thorough examination of your whole mouth. This will highlight any risk factors so we can treat or refer you as quickly as possible. It is recommended that you come in for a screening on a yearly basis. If you have any sore, lump or long-term ulcer in your mouth, no matter how small, it is very important that you come in to have it looked at.
Women require additional dental hygiene care during pregnancy because hormonal changes can affect oral health. At Streatham Dental Centre we recommend that all our pregnant patients come for a check-up so we can help you keep your mouth healthy. Some pregnant women experience inflamed and bleeding gums, known as 'pregnancy gingivitis' and this can start within the second month of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the body has high levels of progesterone, which affects the body's response to toxins as a result of plaque build-up on the teeth.
At the Streatham Dental Centre, before a treatment plan can be created, our Invisalign dentist will take an impression of your teeth to check whether they can be straightened using the Invisalign System. Once confirmed, a detailed treatment plan will then be developed using ClinCheck, our virtual 3D treatment plan. ClinCheck shows the series of movements your teeth are projected to go through over the course of the treatment - so you can see how your teeth are expected to look at the end of your Invisalign treatment before it even begins.
When a tooth becomes infected due to tooth decay or as a result of an injury, root canal therapy may be required to save the remaining tooth structure. Once the infection starts to spread through the root canal system, it could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be removed. Here at Streatham Dental Centre, our team is trained and experienced to perform root canal therapy to a very high standard. Once the tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic, we will reduce your discomfort and stop the infection, while restoring your tooth using advanced materials and techniques.
At Streatham Dental Centre, we offer a range of cosmetic dentistry treatments to give our patients beautiful new smiles. If your teeth are stained, chipped, or not properly aligned, veneers are a good treatment option to consider because they look like natural teeth and don't require a major procedure to have them placed. A veneer is a very thin, tooth-coloured piece of porcelain (like a false fingernail) that is bonded on top of your own tooth. Based on your needs, we can adjust the shape of your veneers to make your teeth overall look longer and or closer together.
