Products & Services
General Dentistry is routine care provided for you and your family and involves regular maintenance and prevention, appropriate intervention and onward referral if necessary.
We believe that “prevention is better than cure” and we therefore try to guide you with appropriate instruction to allow you to better care for your own oral health. This means showing you how to care for your teeth and gums and offering dietary advice.
Dentistry is no longer just about fillings and extractions! More and more we see “Makeover” television programmes and magazine articles, which promote changes to your teeth to enhance and improve smile aesthetics. There are lots of exciting new developments in the world of dentistry that make it possible to improve the appearance of your smile. These can involve the replacement of old amalgam fillings with tooth coloured alternatives to provide a more aesthetically pleasing restoration.
Before cosmetic dentistry can be considered a thorough examination is required to ensure the gums and teeth are in a healthy state.
Dental implants are a permanent and fixed solution to missing teeth. They have been around for about thirty years and are basically titanium screws that are fixed in the jawbones to mimic teeth. They have the advantage that they can replace a lost tooth without having to involve the adjacent teeth. They are, in fact, one of the most successful treatment options in dentistry today.
At your routine examinations our dental team examine the position of the teeth in the jaws to determine if there is enough space for the teeth to grow into a pleasing smile with a perfect bite.
Orthodontics is becoming much more common in adult patients as a treatment option on its own or to assist in more complex restorative treatment plans.
Absolutely fantastic - totally over the moon with my new front veneer - work of the highest standard from Josephine and Fergus. Totally painless and a perfect job from start to finish. Can't thank you enough!
Best experience i've ever had at a dentist and i am completely scared of going and could not stop shaking, however Jennifer Reid was absolutely fantastic!!! Kept me calm and was very patient and understanding and kept checking i was ok while having a tooth extraction - have to go back in a few weeks for more treatment and while i will still be nervous i feel much calmer knowing that she will be doing it - for a dentist it also has a nice atmosphere, is very modern and the girls on reception are lovely. Have just registered here but safe to say you have a patient for life!
An excellent new start for well established local firm. I have been a patient of this practice for many years and have had nothing but first class care from all of the team. It is fantastic to see the same great service continuing in their new state of art premises. Well done.
Fantastic for nervous patients, thank you Jennifer Reid for the care you gave me today.
From Our Website
We would like to welcome you to our family dental practice, which has been established for over 25 years. We are a mixed practice delivering both National Health Service and private treatment in a modern fully computerised facility. Our contemporary practice is centrally located in Gourock town centre with excellent public transport links. We aim to make you and your family as comfortable as possible during your visits and fully appreciate any possible apprehension you may have concerning dental treatment.
For your convenience we offer early morning appointments each day and late night appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
If you have a complaint or concern about the service you have received from the dentists or any other staff working in this practice, please let us know. We operate a practice complaints procedure as part of a NHS system for dealing with complaints. Out complaints system adheres to national criteria. We hope that most problems can be sorted out easily and quickly, at the time they arise and with the person concerned. If your problem cannot be sorted out in this way and you wish to make a complaint, we would like you to let us know as soon as possible - ideally, within a matter of days or at the most a few weeks - because this will enable us to establish what happened more easily.
We encourage all patients to attend for regular check-ups, which allows us to offer the best possible preventative care. Reminders are sent out at regular intervals to remind you to phone the surgery to book a suitable appointment time. To assist in the smooth running of the practice and to help us accommodate dental emergencies, we ask you to attend for your appointments on time and provide as much notice as possible if cancelling a visit. We ask that you provide an up to date mobile phone number and/or email address which allows us to send you a reminder of your booked appointment.
This form, which is a legal requirement, will be updated regularly to keep us up to date with any changes to your details or medications. Your dentist will discuss this medical history with you and conduct a thorough examination of your mouth, which may include any necessary X-rays. We encourage you to tell us how you feel about your teeth and gums and discuss any concerns you may have regarding them. Once we have gathered the information we require we will be in a better position to discuss and explain any treatment required.
We are an approved "Childsmile" practice, a scheme rolled out nationwide in 2009 to encourage registration of pre-school children for oral health advice. This programme operates as part of your childs overall general health plan co-ordinated by your health visitor.
It is known that a beautiful smile can help elevate personal self-esteem which when radiated helps in personal and professional success. Yet many people are unhappy with their smiles and unsure of the multitude of options available to help improve their smile. Smile design is a process where your dentist works in close communication with a quality laboratory to provide a pre-operative wax-up, which allows you to preview how your new teeth may look once treatment is completed. The process utilises a combination of porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges and implants to create the desired effect.
